LITTLE MILLET

Genome Information

Genome Size: Approximately 2 Gb
Number of Chromosomes: 2n = 4x = 36
Genome Sequencing Projects: NCBI Panicum sumatrense genome assembly and annotation project
Accession: PRJDB15472
Description: Little millet, domesticated in India 5,000 years ago, is primarily cultivated in India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. It's a vital crop for ensuring regional food security in semiarid, drought-prone areas. Unlike other millets, little millet lacks extensive molecular marker data. Therefore, we've worked on a draft genome assembly to create SSR markers.
